YOU MIGHT HAVE heard that a few million childless cat ladies descended on the city over the past few days. They paused exchanging knitting patterns just long enough to, ICYMI, nominate the first black woman to run for President of the United States. People walked around without getting murdered and no buildings were set on fire and even the weather cooperated—it was not even close to 100 degrees, which is what it was this time last year.
Speaking of last year, it was roughly a year ago (and a few weeks) that we moved here. So many feelings! I can't believe how fast the year went by, and also how much has changed since we moved. Our beloved bookstore, The Book Table, is closing. Michaela started fourth grade yesterday. She is now old enough to walk herself to and from school. I started growing vegetables. I've been dabbling in still lifes again.

The past couple of weeks were fun, but I'm looking forward to returning to a routine now that Michaela is back in school. How are you all spending the last days of summer? Let me know!
