I made this five years ago. It was the first of many such comics I made during the pandemic and lockdown and in retrospect I think that period of time was when I committed to making comics regularly.

I'm under deadline this week, which hasn't left me a lot of free time to generate fresh content for Mushroom Head. But it seemed appropriate to dust off the archives and pull this one out. I should be back next week with some new work.

Be well, everyone. Focus on the little things, the beautiful little things you take for granted. Here's a quote that resonates with me right now:

Our notions about happiness entrap us. We forget that they are just ideas. Our idea of happiness can prevent us from actually being happy. We fail to see the opportunity for joy that is right in front of us when we are caught in a belief that happiness should take a particular form. — Thich Nhat Hanh

Love,

Claire

Thank you for reading! If you like Mushroom Head, please consider leaving me a tip, or share this with a friend. And if you're new here, welcome. Mushroom Head is a comic diary about me, Claire, a middle-aged lady who lives in Oak Park. Previous installments recorded the time I thought I'd ODed on THC and my experience parenting a person with ADHD as a person who has ADHD. There are also occasional forays into the surreal. If you'd like to get in touch with me, please feel free to respond directly to this email. I'm always happy to hear from you! (Also, you might want to put the Mushroom Head email address into your contacts to avoid having it go to your junk folder.) And if someone forwarded this email to you, I hope you will subscribe, because you are welcome here! Unless you are a bot. In that case, boo, please go away.
